We believe in
#WomenInStem
compileHer is a student organization founded at the University of
Chicago that aims to engage young girls from all across the city
of Chicago through computer science education, adopting an approach
to our programming that is necessarily intersectional in nature.
The importance of technical literacy to social mobility in our
society cannot be overstated. However, the potential for technology
to serve as an equalizing force is unfortunately limited by barriers
to educational opportunity along racial, socioeconomic, and gender lines.
We are strongly committed to the principles of inclusivity and
accessibility, as we seek to organize opportunities at no cost to
our students and prioritize outreach to historically under-resourced
schools. Broadly, our organizational objective is to break down
those barriers: we are committed to closing the gender gap in the
tech world by providing free, high-quality computer science education
to young women.
